Arriving in Lexington in the
summer of 1988, Kris Stuebs immediately placed herself in
the middle of the horse industry, finding a job at Fred
Seitz's Brookdale Farm for the Kinghaven Farm dispersal the
same fall. This event was critical in shaping Kris'
wide understanding of equine families, as well as sparking
an unquenchable interest in solving puzzles and ultimately
deciphering the patterns that create the world's greatest
racehorses.
At
the young age of just 9, Kris unwrapped a Rubik's cube from
under the Christmas tree. Many people have dismissed
this toy as one of the most irritating and worthless
inventions of our time, but Kris wouldn't put it down.
And before the New Year that year, still at the age of 9,
she
had the cube solved. It is this fire to discover the
solution to a puzzle that keeps Kris incessantly digging
into pedigrees to find their patterns - an unforgiving
puzzle with no definitive solution.
During the Kinghaven dispersal
in November of 1988, it became obvious to Kris that equine
pedigrees had all kinds rhyme and reason to them.
Reading an endless pile of books about all the very best
breeders, and striking up conversations with noted pedigree
experts such as Ken McLean and Alan Porter, Kris didn't find
definitive answers, but a virtual roadmap to what seemed
like the direction to follow.
Employing this knowledge, Kris
has now drawn a clientele that have had phenomenal success
with the help of Kris's mating recommendations.
Perhaps one of the best known clients of Kris's is Peter
Vegso who races under Vegso Racing Stable. Becoming a
part of the Vegso team in 1999, Kris has helped plan the
matings of such horses as G1SW and multimillionaire GO
BETWEEN, G1SW SPLENDID BLENDED, G1SP and LSW
WAR MONGER, SW-G2SP MYSTIC SOUL, MLSW
SNUG HARBOR, and LSW and sire FRISCO STAR.
Other horses bred very early in her career mating mares
include G3SW WOLF ALERT and G3SP WOLFER (the
dam of Derby horse STEPPENWOLFER).
In 2008, in the first crop mated
for one of her clients, Ed and Sharon Hudon's Sierra farm,
Kris mated the Hudon's own stallion STAGE COLONY to a young
unproven mare named KENTUCKY WHISPER which produced the
mare's first foal, now a current multiple stake winner named
LOVE TO TELL, a four-year-old now with earnings of
over $200,000. With many of Kris's best matings still
finding their way to the racetrack, the successes are
expected to multiply as the stories being reported by
trainers all over the country are of the type one keeps to
themselves until the horses prove themselves in the winners'
circle on a Saturday afternoon in a stake race at a track of
some significance. However, these successes will be
reported right here, in another paragraph...hopefully
of another chapter listing many top class racehorses.
Kris Stuebs, Kris S. Bloodstock,
is proud to offer mating advice at no charge to her clients.
Matings are provided in a contractual basis with a client to
allow Kris S. Bloodstock to book a prospective client's
mares. This arrangement pays Kris S. Bloodstock its
mating fee in the commissions associated with the stud fee a
client would be paying regardless of the advice.
